What are SMS credits used for?
SMS credits allow you to use the SMS alert feature of Navixis. When you set up an alert with SMS notification, Navixis uses your SMS credits to send messages to the phone numbers listed in the alert.
How many credits does it take to send an SMS?
In France, a standard SMS costs 4.5 credits. With Navixis's default allocation of 450 credits, that equals 100 SMS messages. The cost of one SMS may vary from other countries. Please contact Nexelec's support team for detailed information.
Long SMS messages may count as multiple SMS when they exceed the character limit of a standard SMS. They will consume more credits accordingly. This situation may occur with particularly long site or equipment names.
For example, an SMS that exceeds the character limit of a standard SMS but does not exceed that of two standard SMS messages consumes 9 credits when sending to France.
What are the available types of credits?
There are two types of credits in Navixis:
- renewable credits,
- additional credits.
Renewable credits are renewed each month and are consumed first. They do not accumulate. Any renewable credits remaining at the end of the month are not carried over to the following month.
Additional credits form a reserve that is only consumed once renewable credits are exhausted. They are not automatically renewed. Unused additional credits are carried over from month to month. You can top up these credits by purchasing packs from Nexelec.
Example
Allocation: 450 renewable credits + 10,000 additional credits
| Month | Credits consumed in the month | Renewable credits consumed | Additional credits consumed |
|---|---|---|---|
| May | 50 | 50/450 | 0/10,000 |
| June | 5,450 | 450/450 | 5,000/10,000 |
| July | 5,450 | 450/450 | 10,000/10,000 |
In July, the 450 renewable credits are used along with the remaining 5,000 additional credits. No further SMS messages can be sent until credits are replenished, either at the end of July or by purchasing additional credits.
How do I monitor my credit consumption?
If you are an administrator of your organization, you can view consumption and remaining credits under Settings > Credits.
How do I avoid over-consuming credits?
You can temporarily disable an alert if you expect it to be triggered repeatedly.
For example, a maintenance campaign involving the removal of devices from its support may trigger alerts normally intended to ensure that devices are properly mounted. It is therefore useful to disable the alert before the maintenance campaign to avoid excessive SMS credit consumption, then re-enable the alert once the campaign is complete.
